Communities of Practice – CoP
The IPPEA, with the support of regional education centres around the country and the Professional Development Service for Teachers (PDST), have established a number of Communities of Practice (CoP) in PE.
The focus of these communities is to:
- Establish a network of primary teachers in a particular region with an interest in the teaching of Physical Education
- Share best practice in primary Physical Education
- Provide opportunities for developing teachers’ knowledge and skills in primary Physical Education through facilitated workshops/seminars
- Raise awareness of the resources/publications available to teachers in the area of primary Physical Education
All IPPEA members are welcome to become involved in their local CoP or indeed may help set up a CoP in their area where such a group does not exist. Our Communities of Practice IPPEA Co-ordinator is Ciara Delaney – communityofpractice@irishprimarype.com.
