Teaching and Leading Primary Physical Education
The IPPEA are delighted to offer our exciting EPV approved Summer Course in Physical Education in two locations this year.
They will provide opportunities for teachers to enhance their knowledge, skills and confidence in teaching all strands of the PE curriculum. Practical activities and familiarisation with key resources, applicable to all class levels will be presented relating to Athletics, Gymnastics, Dance, Games and Outdoor and Adventure.
Examples of how pupil learning can be promoted in the affective (teamwork, fair play), cognitive (understanding of concepts) and psychomotor (development and mastery of fundamental movement skills) domain will be evident in the workshops. Recent developments and research in primary PE will be explored practically through innovative curriculum models such as sport education and teaching games for understanding.
The course will provide opportunities for you to develop your understanding of leadership in primary PE. You will consider how you can contribute to quality PE provision across the wider school. The course may be of particular interest to those involved in whole school initiatives, such as the Active School Flag and Health Promoting Schools.
