I purchased the ‘Complete Guide to Primary Dance’ by Lyn Paine (2014). National Dance Teachers Association at the beginning of the summer £29.49 from http://www.humankinetics.com
Having read the book this week and viewed the web resource with video demonstrations, fantastic teacher resources, units of work and warm-ups ideas, I would recommend dipping in to it. There are meaningful cross curricular topics to adapt and explore dance movement in physical education lessons.
Please email the contact IPPEA address to let us know what you think if you get to read the book and try out the material during the next school year.

Strategies for improving student behaviour in physical education
The IPPEA in conjunction with the Department of Arts Education and Physical Education in Mary Immaculate College were delighted to host Dr. Donneta Cothran for a workshop on the topic of behaviour management in PE. Dr. Cothran is professor and associate chair kinesiology at Indiana University USA and has published widely in the field of physical education. This workshop provided the student teachers with practical strategies and activities on how to teach social skills, resolution skills and anger management through the medium of physical education. Dr. Cothran’s excellent presentation along with practical activities and resources from the workshop are now available for downloading in the member’s area.
