Communities of Practice - CoP

The IPPEA, with the support of regional education centres around the country and the Professional Development Service for Teachers (PDST), have established a number of Communities of Practice (CoP) in PE.

The focus of these communities is to:

  • Establish a network of primary teachers in a particular region with an interest in the teaching of Physical Education
  • Share best practice in primary Physical Education
  • Provide opportunities for developing teachers' knowledge and skills in primary Physical Education through facilitated workshops/seminars
  • Raise awareness of the resources/publications available to teachers in the area of primary Physical Education

All IPPEA members are welcome to become involved in their local CoP or indeed may help set up a CoP in their area where such a group does not exist. Further information regarding the set-up and funding of CoP may be obtained from John Murphy - murphjohnd@eircom.net.
